Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette is the inspiration for this editorial-light, feminine and whimsical! Like the movie, we wanted to shoot at the Château de Versailles, above all for its iconic grounds, in particular the Petit Trianon. Marie Antoinette loved to pass most of her time in the gardens, surrounded by nature. Marie-Antoinette, who had such trouble adapting to life in the court, received the Petit Trianon as a gift from Louis XVI in 1774 and developed a great attachment to this estate.
The chosen color scheme for this shoot was a lovely array of sorbet pastels in hues of lemon, rose, and peach. A truly decadent floral headpiece evokes the spirit of the day! The locations we chose for this shoot featured vibrant greens and authentic surfaces. In the gardens, by the lake, we had full use of the boats to create a dreamy image. Marie Antoinette’s “Petit Trianon” is used as our backdrop and to tie in the colors we created a cascade of flowers to highlight an architectural feature. To give a timeless glow to our images Claire Morris decided to use medium format film.

Krystel from Couture Events requested a striking floral headpiece and I dreamed up a decadent but delicate confection that Marie Antoinette might have worn to frolic in the gardens of Versailles.
Imagine wandering down this perfect allée in the gardens of Versailles wearing a delicately embellished Galia Lahav gown – blooms falling from your armful of flowers until you pause to drink in the sound of restless birds and wet spring leaves.
Such a magical day creating wedding inspiration on the grounds of Versailles!
