A peony party; what could be lovelier? Last spring when my favorite peony varieties were at their peak, we hosted an impromptu photo shoot/peony party in the studio. The “Bowl of Cream” peony is truly STUNNING- it really feels impossible that they are real! Huge, layered with ruffled petals each with a defined edge- I LOVE THIS FLOWER!
Imagine the delight of four people coming together in the studio to celebrate this flower and all things lovely! The huge fluffy peonies were paired with delicate puffs of dried flowers to create a fairytale arch, while on the tabletop the peonies shone by themselves. I mixed ethereal textures with the Baroque blooms to create an arch, a mantel installation and a table scape.
The lovely Kaylah modeled look after dreamy look, and we talked about life, our hopes and reflections, and just reveled in the beauty and company.
Please enjoy (and perhaps gain inspiration for your own celebration) from our peony party captured beautifully by Charlee Black!
We layered hand-dyed silk chiffon to create a delicate dream like surface on the tabletop then added glazed ceramic plates with a faint iridescent hue, gold flatware and natural linen napkins. Muted blush taper candles were the final touch for a day of cake, rose and peonies! I could see recreating this look for the loveliest bridal shower or a soft and dreamy birthday celebration.
The mantel installation straight from my dream world! Kaylah and her golden dress just shine here!
A single peony tops the cake! Two blooms created a fanciful millinery confection for Kaylah to wear. Can you believe these blooms?
I hope you enjoyed a little calm and inspiration from these images!
